about

It's been raining over both sides of the Severn estuary for two days now, and the streets of the dock towns where I usually busk a living are too wet to raise a harvest. It's a good reason to put a few songs down, so I sat myself in a bookcase corner with a home recorder, a pot of coffee and a few empty hours to make a go of it. I don't pretend to have a solitary clue as to how to make a beautiful sounding album, and the songs must stand as they are; ad hoc and unvarnished. If they are good then my slip-shod recording methods won't kill them, and if they're bad then Abbey Road couldn't bring them to life. It's mostly original stuff, with my own renditions of some favourite folk and blues numbers, and I sincerely hope you enjoy it, whoever you are. The five pound you spent on this album is buying me a train ticket, a family dinner, a pack of strings (.12, bronze), two bags of firewood or maybe just an hour off the streets in which I can write another song. Whatever it is, it's keeping me and mine afloat and allowing me to follow this troubadouring to wherever it ends up, so thankyou.
